Playing catch-up

Hey their Bloggers!  I have to confess my inadequacy at being an up to date blogger.  Who has time anyway??  I thought since I'm not working and would have so much time (it continues to evade me) I would be so good at keeping a blog.  I really have no excuses...no snow to shovel, no diapers to change, etc.  Alas, it will just have to be a work in progress.  So, if you are reading this, feel lucky that it not old news.

Since my last post, our boys Zachary, Drew and his fiance Rosy has come to visit us here in Okinawa on October 26th.  We had a great time.  However, the flew in just in time for our last Typhoon of the season.  What are the odds of that....I mean really!  We hunkered down in the house and had some good relaxation time (which they needed to recover from the time difference).  We took them from one end of the island to the other and back again.  They saw some really great cultural things as well as the beauty that is here in Okinawa.  We sent them back home November 9th with tears and hugs.  It just dosn't get any easier sayng goodbye...ever.

Thanksgiving was quiet and filling.  We had Turkey with all the trimmings and pies and etc.  It dosn't seem to be fall here.  The temperatures are still in the 70's and everything is green and blooming.  I wont complain about the warm temperatures but.....I need some cool crisp fall air.  We recently had a District leadership meeting and fireside with our Area President and General Sunday School counselor and General Young Mens Counselor.  The meetings were excellent.  I feel so blessed to be a member of the church and be able to experience the Gospel here in Japan.  We met with the Japanese Stakes here in Okinawa, and it was wonderful to feel of their spirit.  The translator did a great job.  I felt a little sorry for him at the end of the day.  He helped translate probably 12 talks.  I was a little depressed to miss all my family at Thanksgiving.  It is amazing how much traditions mean when you aren't their to contribute.  I love and miss my family.....they are a great support to me and my family!
